چکیده

The educational literature emphasizes the key role of analytical thinking (AT) and applied mathematical skills (AMS) in solving engineering prob-lems calls to nurture these school STEM education. This study proposes explores a strategy for fostering AT AMS among middle students prospective teachers through practice digital design 3D printing. involved 32 seventh grade five technology. Both groups learned 10-hour work-shop, “Make spinning-top.” participants designed spinning-tops that can fit into Kinder Surprise egg analysed their geometric mechani-cal properties. We collected data from students’ worksheets, artefacts, in-class discussions. results indicated assignment prompted apply AMS. 3D-Printing for Analytical Ultracentrifugation

Analytical ultracentrifugation (AUC) is a classical technique of physical biochemistry providing information on size, shape, and interactions of macromolecules from the analysis of their migration in centrifugal fields while free in solution. A key mechanical element in AUC is the centerpiece, a component of the sample cell assembly that is mounted between the optical windows to allow imaging a...

Applied Tests of Design Skills — Part 1 : Divergent Thinking

A number of cognitive skills relevant to conceptual design were identified previously. They include divergent thinking (DT), visual thinking (VT), spatial reasoning (SR), qualitative reasoning (QR), and problem formulation (PF). A battery of standardized tests is being developed for these design skills. This paper focuses only on the divergent thinking test. This particular test has been given ...

Promoting Creative and Critical Thinking Skills in College Biology

A model of creative and critical thinking is presented in which analogical reasoning is used to link planes of thought and generate ideas that are then tested by employing and “if/and/then” pattern of reasoning. Data are also presented suggesting that such thinking skills develop first in familiar and observable contexts before they can be used in less familiar and unobservable contexts. The pr...
